A requirement of the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act mandates New Jersey public school districts to post results of local teacher evaluations online. Statute 18A:27-3.1 speaks to state regulations regarding teacher evaluations, and the Midland Park Board of Education recognizes the importance of implementing a program for the evaluation of non-tenured and tenured teaching staff members in accordance with law. Further, the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) law requires districts to determine if teachers are “Highly Qualified” to teach based on specific requirements for content areas and grade levels. According to our most recent records, all district teachers are highly qualified to teach in their assignment. Midland Park’s Board of Education policies and regulations identify the evaluation criteria used in our district and these protocols frame the evaluation process for certificated tenured and non-tenured staff members.

The following table summarizes the district’s education evaluation information as of June 30, 2011, complying with the federal regulation for posting online and recognizing confidentiality concerns:

It is important to acknowledge the teacher and administrative evaluation process does not conclude with production of the evaluation document. We are committed to using all available data stores to guide efforts to insure sustained school improvement and will remain vigilant in seeking to identify ways to improve upon successes and address identified challenges.  In Midland Park, we are proud of our teachers, administrators, and support staff and grateful for their efforts on behalf of our students and school communities.
