An excellent course if you’re thinking of getting a head start for high school volleyball or just want to learn a fast-growing and exciting sport. This is a volleyball clinic where players will receive instruction on the basic and fundamental skills of the game including forearm pass, overhead pass, spiking, and serving. Basic serve/receive, blocking, team offense and defense will also be covered. Volleyball tournament will be held on last day of class. Instructor:  Nicole Marino

 

S.A.T. PREP CLASSES

Open to all Area High School Students

ALL CLASSES WILL BE HELD AT MIDLAND PARK HIGH SCHOOL

The new SAT has undergone its biggest change in 30 years.  Separate Critical Reading and Writing sections have given way to a new Evidence-Based Reading and Writing combined test. The new Math section focuses on concepts most relevant to college and career readiness. The optional new 50 minute essay tests reading, analysis, and writing skills. Instructors will focus on all above areas to prepare students for this important test. Test Date – May 5, 2018

THE FOLLOWING AFTER SCHOOL WORKSHOPS ARE SPONSORED BY M.P.C.E.

FOR STUDENTS IN GRADES K – 6 AND ARE HELD AT GODWIN SCHOOL

At dismissal, M.P.C.E staff members will be at Godwin School to wait with the children until the workshops begin at 3:15.  If your child attends ASCC, they will first go to ASCC to have their attendance taken and then they will be brought to the workshop. At the end of the workshop (4:15), the children attending ASCC will be escorted back to ASCC until their regular pick-up time. Please always notify M.P.C.E. if your child will not be attending a workshop.

 

CRAFTY  CREATIONS

 The following workshops are sponsored by the staff of Art Innovators. Each week we will create a different 3D project to take home.  All materials are included in the fee.

FABRIC BANNER PROJECT FEE : $25

Experience drawing on a flexible piece of fabric as we create our banners! Using our drawing method, students will be walked through creating a lighthouse scene, which, will then be completed using different fabric coloring tools.

 

COPPER TOOLING      FEE : $25

Join us as we use a new medium! Tooling is the process of creating designs in sheet metal. Each student will create and add color to their own piece of copper tooling art. Each piece of art will then be mounted for easy display in your home!

 

CLAY PORCUPINE SCULPTURE       FEE : $25

We will work with clay and create a porcupine with the help of everyday objects!  All students will paint their own porcupine quills and go home with their own sculpture to display.

These are the voyages of young inquiring minds on a quest to discover Space!  Their mission:  to take an exciting look at planets, moons, comets and the stars…to boldly go where bright young minds love to go.  (Space suits not required). 

INVENTION-ATION            FEE: $25
Tuesday, 3:15-4:15 p.m. (Feb. 27)
In this class we will discover the invention.  Most inventions are accidental and in this class we will see which of our most prized possessions came about by accident! Then we will become inventors ourselves as we design and build our own inventions!  You are only limited by what you can imagine with Invention-ation!!

MAD SCIENCE MACHINES           FEE: $25

Students will get the opportunity to try out different types of simple machines: levers, incline planes, wheels and axles and pulleys.  Through various hands-on activities we will build a giant lever and see how it works!  Pulley systems will show how pulleys allow us to lift objects with less effort.

 

JR. WOODWORKING

 Come join us as we have fun building and painting with wood.  Each week we will sand, paint and put together new projects to take home.  All materials are included in the fee. The following workshops are offered by Nicole Hermann, experienced woodworking instructor who has been teaching After School Workshops for 10 years in the surrounding communities.

LUCKY WOODEN FOUR LEAF CLOVER           FEE: $25
Tuesday, 3:15-4:15 p.m. (Mar. 13)
Kids will learn the basics of woodworking by sanding their own lucky four leaf clover!  Afterwards they will paint it so it can be used as a decoration for the upcoming holiday. 

 

SPRING WOODEN FLOWER         FEE: $25
Tuesday, 3:15-4:15 p.m (Mar. 20)
Spring is finally here!   Kids will learn about woodworking by sanding and painting their own spring flower!

 

WOODEN RABBIT  FEE: $25

Hop on in and make your own wooden rabbit!  Kids will sand and paint their own wooden rabbits while learning the basics of woodworking.

 

FUN WOODEN TIC TAC TOE GAME       FEE: $25

Kids will learn how to make a classic tic tac toe game out of wood. They will sand and paint the board and use wood pieces as the X’s and O’s.

RAINBOW OF FLAVOR     FEE: $25

In this colorful cooking class we will be making edible rainbow paint in a variety of ways and enjoy some rainbow banana bites as a snack.  It will be a blast creating some colorful and delicious treats!  Taste the rainbow!

 

AFTER SCHOOL SNACK ATTACK          FEE: $25
Tuesday, 3:15-4:15 p.m. (May 1)
In this class we will be creating some delicious snacks to enjoy and hopefully get your kids to eat better for you!! We’ll be making fresh fruit smoothies and no-bake berry snacks that are protein packed with sunflower butter too!

 

BONJOUR FRANCE FEE: $25
Tuesday, 3:15-4:15 p.m. (May 8)
In this workshop we will travel around the world to France and make some delicious chocolate dipped treats and Oreo truffles!  Must love chocolate to enjoy this awesome and sweet workshop!

 

EDIBLE FLOWER GARDEN          FEE: $25
Tuesday, 3:15-4:15 p.m. (May 15)
In this workshop we will make a yummy and edible flower garden parfait which will almost be too pretty to eat! We will also make some flower cracker snack bites!

 

PASTA FROM SCRATCH   FEE: $25
Tuesday, 3:15-4:15 p.m. (May 22)
In this workshop these junior chefs will learn the art of pasta making from scratch!  We will be cracking eggs, mixing and measuring and having a blast!  Then we will roll out the pasta dough and make some fresh farfalle (bowtie) pasta to cook up at home!  To make it even more fun we will tint the pasta dough pink using natural food coloring!

 

COOL TOOLS CLASS          FEE: $25
Tuesday, 3:15-4:15 p.m. (May 29)
We are combining our Cool Tools Class with Healthy Snacks to give you a Healthy Kitchen Combo Class!  We’ll show the kids that learning about food is also fun by teaching them to use fun kitchen tools! We will be grating fresh mozzarella for no-bake pizzas; learn how to properly peel our veggies with a vegetable peeler and even make spiral zucchini for some fun zoodles (a/k/a zucchini noodles)!!
