BIRD WATCHING FOR BEGINNERS                                      FEE: $95

Please note:  All participants will be sent instructions and a class schedule the week before the class begins. Those without an email address must send a stamped, self-address business-size envelope along with their registration to receive a class schedule. 

A series of five morning field trips and one all-day trip designed to introduce beginners to the skills and fun of bird watching. Selection and use of binoculars and bird guides, note taking, bird biology, behavior, habitats, migration, and maintaining a feeding station will be covered. Classes are limited to 12 students (minimum is 5) to allow individual instruction in field identification and bird song. Please note: Although most field trips will begin at 8:00 a.m., some may begin earlier, depending on the season and destination. All five half-day trips will end at 11:30 a.m. The one all-day trip will end at 2:30 or 3:00 p.m.

CAR TALK 101 – PURCHASE, RESALE, OPERATION &

This class will explain the categories of vehicle Purchase, Resale, Operation and Maintenance for all current and previous brand/model vehicles (domestic and imported) in direct and understandable language for every vehicle driver/owner from novice to expert.    The variety of choices for purchase and resale of a vehicle, the complex array of electronic accessories, entertainment and safety systems installed in vehicles sold in North America since the advent of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) regulations, beginning in 1968, will also be discussed.  Additionally, the subject of vehicle maintenance; recommended, required, suggested and seasonal items will be presented in simple layman’s language, including what is and what is not a Manufacturer’s Warranty issue.  Please bring the owner’s manual for the personal vehicle(s) being driven.  Instructor:  JOHN PAPIETRO

In this hands-on class you’ll learn how to create your favorite skincare products. You will be coached in the art of creating skincare products, the quality of which match or exceed those already in your medicine cabinet. Innovative and exciting ingredients, such as sea kelp and marshmallow powder, hyaluronic acid, and a plethora of fragrance oils are provided along with packaging. Join us in creating bath bombs, salt scrubs and soaks, and customized lotions. Save money, all the while feeling, smelling, and looking amazing! Recipes include: Silken Therapy Lotion and Soothing and Clarifying Facial Serum. Seniors are often without basic legal documents that they need to control their personal and financial lives as well as their medical care.  They are also often unaware of various government programs that are available to pay for their home care, prescription drugs and nursing home care.  The course is designed to acquaint individuals with the value of a professionally drawn will, the necessity of a financial power of attorney and the key provisions of a living will /medical power of attorney.  Medicare and Medicaid programs will be explored in detail.  The change to Medicaid rules (particularly Qualified Income Trusts, penalties for making gifts, the five year look back rule which was brought about by the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005) will be discussed in detail. This seminar is designed to acquaint individuals with the value of a professionally drawn will, the absolute necessity of a financial power of attorney and the key provisions of an advanced medical directive/medical proxy. Upon your death, your estate could be subject to death taxes. New Jersey recently passed legislation to phase out its estate tax. However, New Jersey will still have an inheritance tax, the highest in the country. Most people are under the impression both taxes are going away. How to take advantage of this change in New Jersey tax law will be explored. Poorly planned estates can also be subject to prolonged and expensive legal proceedings. This class will address these issues and how death, inheritance, capital gains and gift taxes are interrelated. Learn the modern American version of the Ancient Chinese game of Mah Jongg. Four people play the game at one time, but each play for themselves. The game is similar in concept to Gin Rummy, but it employs more skill than luck. The game is not as difficult to learn as Bridge. Betting will not be discussed. Men and teenagers are welcomed. Material fee of $3 is  payable to instructor first night of class. Class limit 8 students.
