The New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum (NJQSAC) is a monitoring and evaluation system for the state’s public schools.  Under NJQSAC, public school districts are evaluated in five areas: Instruction and Program, Fiscal Management, Governance, Personnel, and Operations.  Midland Park was reviewed under NJQSAC in 2008 and since then, the number of combined District Performance Review (DPR) indicators for the five areas has been dramatically reduced, from 334 to 54 (formal adoption of these changes is expected to occur in February 2012.)

This change in the NJQSAC process was determined through the work of a NJQSAC Task Force comprised of educators, administrators, district board members, and NJ Department of Education (NJDOE) staff from throughout the state.  This committee reviewed all components of the prior NJQSAC regulations and proposed amendments designed to streamline the process without reducing the focus on the five areas identified for review.  Thus, while the revised new NJQSAC format does not allow for a pure comparative analysis from the previous NJQSAC review, there remains a good deal of similarity in the DPR content for each of the five areas.

Per statute, the DPR review and scoring as determined by the district and the Statement of Assurances (SOA) document is included on the district website.   It is important to note the DPRs for Instruction & Program as listed are incomplete.  As directed by the NJDOE, the district is not permitted to score #1-6, and 20 for this area.  These DPRs will be populated by the NJDOE prior to the district’s site visit by NJDOE county officials in May 2012 when a final score for Instruction and Program will be determined.   Please contact Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Marie Cirasella, with any questions regarding the NJQSAC process; thank you.
