  • MPHS- Most Improved HSPA scores in Bergen County

Posted by Nicholas Capuano at 2/3/2012

In today’s Bergen Record, Midland Park High School was highlighted as having the best improvement in HSPA scores compared to all high schools in Bergen County.

In the 2009-2010 school year, Midland Park High School had a 20% improvement from proficient to advance proficient on the HSPA test in both Math and Language Arts Literacy.

The following year 2010-2011, we had a 36% improvement in moving students from proficient to advance proficient.  This is a tremendous affirmation to the staff and the students of Midland Park High School.

I want to congratulate the teachers for their tireless efforts and dedication.  I would also like to thank the students and the community for their commitment to the pursuit of academic excellence.

  • Happy New Year

Posted by Carole Treta at 12/31/2011

    Dear Parents:

    Happy New Year!!

There are lot of exciting things happening at Midland ParkHigh School.  There have been some new additions to an already exciting staff fully motivated in creating a dynamic high school culture.

June Chang, the new assistant principal, comes with a plethora of experience from Jersey City and has had a seamless transition in becoming a team player with both the student body and the parents.

Hayley Barton, our new art teacher, is providing an innovative and exciting forum for students to explore their artistic expressions.  Her eagerness and devotion to Midland Park can be demonstrated in her involvement in the Artist in Action  club.

Emily Walker, comes to Midland Park with an impressive knowledge of mathematics.  Her energy and her drive to be a successful teacher will prove most valuable to our student body.

In addition to the newcomers, we have some familiar faces doing some wonderful things.

The Drama debuted, Just Another High School Play, under the directional guidance of Andrew Anderson was a great success.   The students involved should be take pride and in the effort showcased that weekend.

The Middle School and High School Winter Choral Concert, held on December 15, 2011, provided a festive holiday musical experience.  Congratulations to Donna Halliwell for her commitment to the students in getting them ready to perform.

As 2011 ended, we celebrated the achievements of our athletes during our annual Fall Sports Awards Night held on December 13.  We have much to be proud of in our student athletes as many of them were honored by the league and county recognition.

Athletics would not be athletics without the spirit of the Marching Band.  We are proud to highlight the students and David Marks for their hard work in bringing home a top three finish at the Syracuse University marching band competition; improving last year’s performance.

Through the efforts of the Senate (Leon Varjian), National Honor Society (Tara Tashjian) and the Interact Club (Nancy DeRitter) were all collaborativelyinvolved in charitable fundraising, food, clothing and toy drives among many others.  It was this giving spirit that set the tone for our holiday and winter sports pep rally.  School spirit was at an all time high.  Katie Gordon, Pep Club advisor did an excellent job in finishing the final school day of 2011.

Moving forward with great expectation for continued student and staff morale, we look to 2012 as being a positive school year.

  • New School Year

Posted by Nick Capuano at 9/23/2011 7:00:00 PM

We had a great two weeks of school!  It was exciting to see so many parents were in attendance for the assembly on the new Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights prior to “Back to School Night.”  The night finished strong with the parents visiting the classrooms of the teachers to meet and greet them.

The teachers are eager to return from summer to engage and challenge the students.  The marching band has just completed their camp and is gearing up for their competitions.  The fall sports have also finished up their pre-seasons and their regular season is underway.
